This cache has been placed to coincide with the 1st Annual
Bluebell Festival (May 10, 2008) at Carley State Park near
Plainview, MN. There will be several activities taking place at the
park -- a youth trout fishing clinic, a bald eagle program, and a
guided wildflower walk, to name a few -- plus numerous events in
and near Plainview. After finding the cache and signing the
logbook, you are more than welcome to partake in the activities.
Don’t worry if you can’t make it for the festival – this is a
permanent cache and will be available whenever the park is
open.
The best place to park is at the picnic area, which can be found
on the park map. This cache is a three stage
multi-cache along the North Branch of the Whitewater River.
There is a little something for everyone in the three stages: a
micro, something “different”, and a traditional container. No
bushwacking is required, and it is NOT advised to stray off of
any marked trails except for on the third and final stage, which
is still only 10 or 20 feet from the path.
For the most part, this cache is kid friendly. I took my three
year old son with me when scoping out the area for the cache, and
it was all easily accessible for him. It is necessary to cross the
river at one point, and at certain times of the year (springtime
and after heavy rain), you might get wet crossing – I actually
carried my son across. It should be no problem for most adults to
cross – just be prepared for the possibility of getting a little
wet.
