Stumped? Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Barfusserplettz: I can't believe they moved that massive stump!
We will see what we can do about setting up a replacement cache at the new location.

Read about it in this Winnipeg Free Press article:

Thanks for all those who visited this cache, it was fun!

Geocache Description:

This little known archeological "treasure" is Manitoba's largest petrified stump!

When the four lane highway was being built after the fire of 1955, because the evidence of the fire was still very visible, the regional office of Natural Resources planned this stump to be a base for a "Prevent Forest Fires" sign. However, the final location of the highway was not where it was originally expected and the stump has since disappeared into the jackpine regrowth.

Congrats Friendly Ghosts on their 2nd FTF of our caches! We realize our caches are going to have to get tougher to find!

We lament the loss of another ammo box pinched by muggles! The original cache has been replaced, new swag added but the original logbook was found and placed in the new lock'n lock container. The cache location has also been changed to ensure that only geocachers will find it.

Special thanks to our favourite DNR guy, Gord, for showing us this amazing stump!
