Geocache Description:

Cascade Falls Challenge
Three-part multi-cache
Parking can be found near the Berlin Pollution Facility. On the east side of the river, turn onto Goble Street, and then turn right on Devens/Shelby Street. There is no street sign, but there is a little sign with the letters BPCF. Follow these signs; the road is a dead end. You will see a parking area on your right. Approximate coordinates is N44°27.290 and W071°11.087.
Along this trek, my GPS did not have a lot of accuracy, but the coordinates should bring you into the ballpark. You will start off will a nice walk along the rail bed trail. You will be heading south, parallel with the Androscoggin River. You might be lucky to see wild life (Ducks, Geese, Deer, etc.) along this walk. Your first waypoint will be near an old road which will be on the left hand side of the rail bed trail. This will lead you to your first waypoint. Before continuing on to the second waypoint, stop and enjoy the view of the falls.
The second waypoint will lead you back North along the power lines. When you get to the height of the land, you will have a great view of the valley and the surrounding mountains. Shortly after you crest over the height of the land, you will come onto a trail that cuts across the power lines, and heads up the ridge to the middle falls. The second waypoint is on the left hand side of the trail.
When you find the second waypoint, this will give you the coordinates for the cache. Simply follow the trail up the ridge and keep a lookout for a red painted border line. The quickest route to the cache is along this border line.
TO FIND THE CACHE, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO CROSS THE BROOK OR ENDANGER YOURSELVES BY LOOKING NEXT TO THE LEDGE AREA. The cache is a safe distance away from the ledge. If your GPS is bouncing around like mine was, rest assure that you should be able to find the hide with a good (geocaching) eye.
Have fun and please email me your coordinates from the waypoints and the cache.
