Geocache Description:

Another of my occasional series of summit caches for hillwalkers.

This one is just below the summit of Slieve Beg (590M), an imposing crag at the head of the Annalong Valley, with its distinctive gully, the Devils Coachroad.

Cache can be reached starting from from the Carrick Little car park at N54 07.722 W005 56.588 and heading up the Annalong Valley. Either head to the Binnnian/Lamagan saddle and follow the path over Lamagan, Cove and on to the cache for the hard route, or take the valley round the foot of these peaks to reach the brandy pad at around N54 10.948 W5 56.663 and head up from the other side. This is around 8-10 miles hiking.

Another route would start from Donard Park carpark at N54 12.342 W5 53.671 and follow the well defined Glen River trail up to the saddle between Donard and Commedagh at N54 10.956 W5 55.929. Cross the wall and follow the trail down the far side to the brandy pad, follow it westward to Slieve Beg and head on up from there. This is around 6-7 miles hiking.

Cache is a small tab-lock box, with ziplocked logbook and swaps. Please ensure it is all well sealed when replacing it, and ensure the cache is well hidden as you found it before leaving, as there are plenty of muggles passing through.

As with all caches in wilderness areas, please ensure you are dressed properly and prepared for all conditions, as the weather can change suddenly
