We're having another Geo-Rafting Event! We're making it all day,
with a Potluck and a nice time to meet and greet. Everyone's
encouraged to come, even if you don't raft, because we're making a
day of it!
Here's the thread about the Event in the NW forums, for any
questions and discussions:

We'll be meeting around noon, and we'll have a potluck lunch.
Everyone bring some food to share! The
Cache-cadians will be providing meat (things like hot dogs and
hamburgers), buns, condiments, plates, utensils, napkins.
Everyone else can bring side dishes, drinks, etc. Then, whoever is
rafting can take off around 2pm.
If you plan on rafting, please state in your log how many will
be rafting, so that we know how much room we will have. We have
room for around 24 people (this may change depending on how many
guides we get for sure), and so reservations are on a first come,
first served basis. Also, let us know how many kids will be in your
rafting group, and what ages. If they're younger, then we may be
able to have more people in the raft. Thanks.
We will be asking for a suggested donation of $35 to help keep
up with costs such as equipment upkeep, rafting guides, gas,
permits, and misc. incidentals. That helps us to be able to keep
providing rafting equipment and guides for Events.
As usual, anyone who's an experienced kayaker with their own
equipment, or even people who have their own white water raft and
guide are welcome to run the river along with us!
Where:
Riverside Park in Cashmere. It is a large park with a playground,
picnic tables, and a restroom/changing facility. It is where
rafters take out at the end of their trip.
When:
Sunday, June 22, Noon for meeting/food, 2pm for Rafting. Rafting
should take about 2 1/2 hours. People can stay from noon on and
meet and greet as long as they like!
What to
wear: Wetsuit, swimsuit, shorts, please avoid
bluejeans and cotton. (they don't dry as fast and you could get
cold.) Water shoes or booties are helpful. You can wear running
shoes that you don't mind getting wet, and warm socks, if you don't
have water shoes. Sandals (unless they're solid sport ones) aren't
a good idea, as you may need traction with rocks and the river.
What to
bring: Potluck foods for lunch, GPSr (if you
dare,), water bottle, your own wetsuit and booties if you have
them, towel, SUNTAN LOTION something dry
and/or warm to put on when you get out. Donation if you can, to
help out with extra costs: Equipment upkeep, Rafting Guides,
Incidentals. We have limited room in a dry bag for things you don't
want to get wet, like cameras or gpsr's.
What we
provide: Three commercial whitewater rafts with
experienced guides, paddles, lifejackets, and some wetsuits and
booties. (the wetsuits and booties are limited), limited room in a
dry bag for things you don't want to get wet, like cameras or
gpsr's.
