Kleiner Exkurs rund um den Augstbergturm. Die Gesamtstrecke beträgt rund 4 Km.
Short excursion around the Augstberg-tower. The entire track is about 4km in length.
Der Augstbergturm ist ein Ausichtsturm des schwäbischen Albvereins.
Die Turmhöhe beträgt 28m und liegt 849 m ü. M. und ist ganzjährig geöffnet. Von April bis Oktober wird der Turm sonntags bewirtet, dann kostet es auch 50 Cent Eintritt den Turm zu besteigen. Direkt beim Turm ist eine Grillstelle vorhanden.
Vom Augstberg aus hat man eine herrliche Sicht über die Alb, in Richtung NO hin zur Münsinger Alb, in Richtung SO nach Oberschwaben zum Bussen, in Richtung SW zum Heuberg und nach NW zum Roßberg. Bei guter Fernsicht sieht man die Kette der Alpen von der Zugspitze bis zum Berner Oberland.
Parken bei Koordinaten (N48 18.092 E9 16.630)
Von dort geht es weiter zu ST1 (N48 18.202 E9 16.682).
Hier rechts abbiegen und weiter zu ST2 (N48 18.174 E9 16.843, Zickzackweg).
ST3 findet man bei N48 18.053 E9 16.863, dort notiert euch die angebrachte Hausnummer ( A = __ ).
Weiter geht's über ST4 (N48 17.703 E9 16.764, Doppelbaum) zu ST5 (N48 17.853 E9 16.292, Bank).
Neben der Bank steht ein Feldkreuz, notiert euch die Nummer des dort zitierten Psalms. (B = __ ).
Wer jetzt ausser Atem ist, dem sei empfohlen auf der Bank eine kurze Rast einzulegen, denn jetzt gehts weiter nach oben zu ST6 (N48 17.838 E9 16.596, Turm 872m ü.M.). Dort gilt es die auf einer Tafel angebrachte Höhe des Säntis zu finden. Notiert euch diese Höhe. (C = ____ ).
Fast geschafft, entweder Ihr legt jetzt eine Grillpause ein oder ihr geht sofort weiter zum Final.

The Augsbergturm is a viewing tower owned by the 'schwäbischer Albverein'. The height of the tower is 28m and it is located 849 above sea level. It is open all year round.
Near by the tower there is a fire place available. From the Augstberg you have a wonderful view over the swabian Alb, in NE direction to the 'Münsinger Alb', in SE direction to upper swabia to the 'Bussen', in SW direction to the 'Heuberg' and in NW direction to the 'Roßberg'. If the weather is fine you can see the alps from the Zugspitze to the Bernese Oberland.
Park you car at N48 18.092 E9 16.630.
From there go to ST1 (N48 18.202 E9 16.682). Turn right there and go to ST2 (N48 18.174 E9 16.843, Zigzag-path).
ST3 can be found at N48 18.053 E9 16.863, you have to note down the mounted house number. (A = __)
Go via ST4 (N48 17.703 E9 16.764, double tree) to ST5 (N48 17.853 E9 16.292, Seat).
Beside the seat there is a field cross, note down the number of the cited psalm. (B = __)
I strongly recommend to everyone who is out of breath now to make a short rest on the seat because it's going up now to ST6 (N48 17.838 E9 16.596, Tower 872m ASL). You have to find the height of the 'Säntis' as listed on a plate. Note down that height. (C = ____)
Almost done, either you have a break and grill or you go immediately to the final.
