An easy drive-by cache.
An interesting stop over along the Great Southern Rail Trail.
The three bridges serve different purposes.
- the old original wooden trestle bridge from the railway line. It has recently been condemned as unsafe for pedestrians - but it is still worth a couple of photos.
- the cement bridge for road traffic - boring!
- the brand new “Pumphouse” bridge for people walking, cycling or horseriding along the rail trail.
Stop a while and walk along the bridge to view across the Tarwin Valley. To the north one can see where the Eastern and Western branches of the river meet and flow south onder the bridges. This valley floods quickly after a heavy rain in winter and spring, but quickly drains away again. There are excellent photo opportunities during these periods.
The cache is a simple 1 litre camouflaged screw top container with some swaps, a log book and a pencil.
Please replace the cache exactly as found to prevent muggling!
Good Luck!
