Mit Ausbruch des zweiten Weltkrieges wurde bei der ÖAV* die Produktion auf Kriegsbedarf umgestellt und unter anderem auf die seit 1935 betriebene Reparatur von Flugmotoren in ein neues Werk in Stammersdorf-Herrenholz verlegt, das nach dem Krieg von den Sowjets gesprengt wurde. Das sogenannte Herrenholz heute ist eine besondere Waldinsel mit Eichen und Hainbuchen, die inmitten intensiv genutzten Agrarlandes eine Oase für seltene Tiere und Pflanzen darstellt. *„Österreichiches Automobilfabriks AG“ vormals „Austro-Fiat“ (ÖAV) Der Name des Werkes lautete ursprünglich "Austro Fiat Flugmotoren Ges.m.b.H." und wurde später in "Wiener Flugmotoren Reparaturwerk" umgewandelt." ~ ~ + + ~ ~ With the outbreak of the Second World War the ÖAV* changed over to manufacturing for war needs They used the new plant in Stammersdorf, that since 1935 repaired aircraft engines in a men's wood (Herrenholz).
