The Allons! cache is located in Southwest Louisiana in a state park that was formerly part of the Atchafalaya River Basin. There is a day use fee of $2. The area has camping, hiking, biking, fishing, boating and picnicing, and is an excellent cache for family excursions. Also, St. Martinville, the third oldest town in Louisiana, is just a short drive away and has some interesting Acadian cultural sites to visit.
Deep in the heart of Cajun country, the Allons! cache is an ammo can containing the following items:
- Log book
- Camera
- Geocaching letter
- 6oz bottle of OFF skintastic
- Pack of 4 AA batteries
- Blue toy truck
- Deck of playing cards
- 6" adjustable wrench we found at the cache "595a"
- Pack of WWF Slam Care bandages
- Blue M&M magnet
As with virtually any cache in southern Louisiana, insect repellant is *not* optional. Also, the park suggests wearing boots for walking in the area where the cache is hidden. We suggest a pair of shoes that you aren't afraid to get very dirty. On the day we hid it there had been no rain for a week, and certain areas still had large mud puddles.
