Who Knew That Was There - Squannacook Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

the3gmen: I'm sorry to say that I have to archive this one. I thought I had placed it far enough away from the high muggle spot near the trestle but I guess not. Perhaps I'll find a better spot in the future.

Thanks to all who found this one and logged it.

Geocache Description:

This cache is placed close to the old Boston & Maine railroad line in West Townsend. I think it has been about 30 years since a train traveled over these tracks. From the parking spot on Dudley Road, you will cross the road and walk along the tracks for about 2/10 mile until you find what this cache is named for, a beautiful wooden railroad trestle (see the gallery for a picture) Please be careful if you go onto the trestle, especially with small kids, THERE IS NO NEED TO CROSS THE TRESTLE if you approach from the parking coordinates listed below.

The bent rails and charred ties halfway across the trestle are the result of attempted vandalism in the 80's.

Although I haven't tried it, I can imagine there might be some pretty good fishing in the brook nearby so you might want to bring your rod and tackle. If you have any luck, let us know in your log.

The cache itself is a good sized ammo box with plenty of good swag to start off with. When I placed the cache, it looked like there might be some poison ivy in the area of ground zero, so keep your eyes open for it.

Please re-hide the cache as well as (or better than) you find it.
