Another cache in the beautiful Cullaby Lake area. There's a
couple ways to get to the cache site. The first is to follow the
signs and park in the main lot. There's a $3 fee, so if you're
going this route you'll want to pack a picnic and make a day of it.
But the quicker route is a parking area just south of the weigh
station on 101 and about 100 feet north of Anderson Road that will
get you within 1000' of the cache. EDIT:There is now (June 2010)
a $3 pay station at this entrance.
Without giving too much away, the actual storage space for
tradables is about equal to a regular size cache, but you'll only
want to bring smaller trade items. Don't let the fact that it's a
'mystery' cache fool you. That's only because once you get to
ground zero you'll still have to figure out how to retrieve the
cache. There's no puzzle to solve other than that.
By the way - if you'd like to get all 7 caches currently hidden
in this area there is a nice well-maintained trail loop that will
take you to all of them. Half of it is paved and half is gravel. To
do the whole loop would be a hike of less than a mile and a half.
Although most maps don't show it there is a nice gravel trail that
forms the north side of the loop, basically connecting The
Cocoanuts and Dos Trees. You could even bike the whole thing, but
you'd need to chain up and go on foot to reach Real Genius and The
Biggest Tree Around.
