You must be logged in with a Geocaching.com account to view the specific location of this geocache. It's free!
You can park at the Torrey Pines Glider Port. Short hike from there
to the cache. Beautiful views on a clear day.
This cache is dedicated to my Grandpa Packham. He passed away on
the 4th of July last year. My Grandpa was 85 years old and he was a
great man. This is not a sad cache. My Grandpa would not want us to
be sad on the 4th of July. He would want us to celebrate our
freedom, remember those who serve and who have served and he would
want us to spend time with family and friends.
My Grandpa Packham was a veteran of World War II, U.S. Navy, where
he served as a night fighter pilot off the USS Boxer (call sign
Night Angel). He loved his country, he loved God and he loved his
family (especially his grandkids.)
I frequent Torrey Pines on a regular basis and my Grandpa built and
flew model airplanes as one of his many hobbies, hence the location
of this cache. As you find the cache please take a few seconds to
look at the black and white picture on the back of the lid of my
Grandpa in his plane.
Happy 4th of July Grandpa and Happy 4th to everyone!
