Geocache Description:

Team Ninja’s 20th cache (yay we have beaten the task set by TeamGeoPlesk!) resides in the lovely Mogg’s Creek picnic area, a beautiful picnic ground hidden away behind the township of Mogg’s Creek.

The area the picnic ground is in is part of the Great Otway National Park. This area of the park is one of the most diverse vegetation communities in Australia. Over 70 species of orchid have been identified in the area, making it one of the most orchid-rich sites in Australia!

The picnic ground has 3 walks around the area; the first is the Nature Walk (the cache is located next to the start of the track). The nature walk is an easy 1.8km walk, following Moggs Creek over a number of small bridges. It takes about 35 minutes to complete.
The second walk is the Ocean View Walk. It is 5km and takes 2 hours to complete. It takes you through dry woodland and coastal heathland before you reach the Eastern View lookout, which gives you rewarding views of Split Point Lighthouse, Fairhaven and views east to Lorne.
The third and final walk takes you to Distillery Creek Picnic Area (where Team_Ninja’s 21st cache is, do you wanna get drunk?) It is a 10.7 km circuit track that takes 5 hours (return) to complete. The strenuous walk follows the fire track to the Aireys Inlet water supply, then on to Painkalac Dam, then continuing on the Distillary Creek Picnic Ground.

Even if you do not feel like walking the picnic ground is a great spot to stop off and have your lunch at. There are picnic tables and fire pits with barbeque plates ontop if you need them.

Please be careful when retrieving the cache. The thing it is hiding in (see clue) is slightly shielded from the nearest picnic table, however if there are muggles there you may be ‘muggled’ out of finding the cache. Please do not retrieve it if there are any muggles looking.

Be on the lookout for snakes in summer.
