Quimby's Quagmire Quandary Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

XKlondike: This location seems to be problematic for cache longevity so regretfully I must archive this cache. It was originally placed to bring attention to a trailhead to access the Dutch Flat Trail from higher up but, alas, parking was not legal here.

Farewell Triple Q. Perhaps we shall meet again.

Geocache Description:

The name doesn't really describe the cache or the immediate area. It's not "a soft wet area of low-lying land that sinks underfoot" or "a difficult, precarious, or entrapping position" or even "a situation from which extrication is difficult especially an unpleasant or trying one." I just thought the 3Q combo sounded cool.

However, there is an additional reason for my word choice. While driving up and down Quimby Road, I experienced the airy feeling of a jumbo jet taking off and landing and I thought to myself, "What adjectives might describe the situation if I were to Focus© too much on the Garmin while negotiating this stretch?" Well, there you have it.

Coming in for the Approach

Cleared for Landing

Whoa!! Runway 10 is a Bit Tight

This cache was placed to show an access point to Joseph D. Grant County Park. You may gain the Dutch Flat Trail ridge where several caches are there for the taking with only half the amount of climbing than that required for an ascension from the valley below. Perfect for those toasty summer days. This is also the gateway cache to my Kid's Kritter Kache - South Bay Edition (GC1E833) where tiny cachers may experience the Great Outdoors and also score some fun toys.

Unfortunately parking is not legal here so the best option is to be dropped off from a vehicle going slower than 5 MPH.

Trail hours are sunrise to sunset.
