Geocache Description:

This is not the highest elevation around, but it is certainly way, way high up! At 8,222 feet above sea level Drake Peak affords a spectacular 360 degree view of Southern Oregon.

Turn north from Hwy 140 and follow Forest Service Road 3615. The turn for Drake Peak is located at 42' 17.318 N, 120' 12.173 W. It's a six mile drive, rising 1700 feet to the peak. The dirt part of the road is well maintained, but the forest service road is only accessible from May or June through September or October.

The cache is several hundred feet from what used to be a fire lookout on Drake Peak. If there appears to be guests at the lookout, please give them their space and privacy as they paid a fee to the forest service in order to camp there overnight.

If no one is there, please feel free to enjoy the surrounding view as you can see for miles and miles!

Cache is a bright color, so please replace it well. Also, please make sure to snap the lid on real tight so it will withstand the winter wetness. Originally set with a FTF certificate and lots of small or skinny "McC" swag - but hey! you came for the view and experience anyway!! Right?

Enjoy the drive and the scenery! Happy Caching!
