Menominee County does not currently have a lot of caches, so we
thought it would be fun to create a series of caches to bring
people to a bunch of places within the county that may have not
been seen by most geocachers and travelers before and to place a
few new caches. To that end we have placed at least one cache in
each of the 14 townships of the county as well as a few other
municipalities. We tried to take you off the beaten path a little
bit with this series, we hope that you enjoy hunting these caches
as much as we enjoyed placing them.
City of Menominee
The city of Menominee is located at the southern tip of Menominee
County, in Menominee Township. Menominee is the entry point to
Michigan from Marinette, Wisconsin. Menominee is the fourth largest
city in the Upper Peninsula with a population of 9,131. The city
has an area of 5.5 square miles and is bordered by both the
Menominee River and Lake Michigan. The city is part of the
Menominee Area Public Schools District.
This cache is located at John Henes Park in the city of
Menominee. The cache is a camouflaged peanut butter container in
what we felt was a very pretty spot in an awesome park. There are a
few other caches in this park at the time of this placement, be
sure to check them out as well! We would like to say thank you
to wis backpacker who was kind enough to replace a new container
for us when the cache was taken from the original hiding spot,
thank you wis backpacker!
This cache is part of the Menominee County Challenge (MCC)
series. Please be sure to note the letter on the inside of the
cache lid, as you will need this letter to come up with the
coordinates for the final cache.
