Geocache Description:


Venus is our nearest neighbor but is a planet clouded in mystery. Thick clouds of sulfuric acid reflect sunlight and trap heat like the greenhouse effect on Earth but the temperature on Venus can get up to 900 degrees which is even hotter than Mercury the closest planet to the sun. Venus has no moons and spins in the opposite direction of Earth and the other planets. Since Venus is closer to the sun than Earth, a Venusian year is only 225 days but the planet spins so slow that a day on Venus lasts 243 Earth days. Since Venus is covered with thick clouds, scientists have to use special radar to see what the surface of Venus really looks like. The pictures below show Venus with clouds and without clouds.
