Voices Below Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

BKip: Looks like its time to put this one to rest. Established in 2008 it has had a good run, not a lot of visitors but I think it took folks to places they would not ordinarilly go.

Geocache Description:

Cache Pointer

Voices Below was the second of two caches placed while exploring a less popular hill top in this very popular hiking area. The name comes from the unexpected voices that seemed so loud and nearby.

To place this cache I headed up a very narrow, very steep, trail starting at the cache The Common Cold (N38 04.811 W122 35.311) (also site of archived (GC1F49). This trail takes you to the top of the waterfall, where I followed the gully uphill. Arriving at the top of the hill I picked up a fairly good path that led me to where I placed another cache and then I backtracked, going past my initial point, and then placed this hide.

Since this is not nearly a high traffic area the cache is not well hid. In fact it is fairly in the open. For those of you who like to “hide it better than found”, DON’T.

The container is a plastic jar, abt. 6”X3”, covered in camouflage tape. Coordinates determined from 8 satellites.

After placing this cache, rather than retracing my route, I then bushwhacked my way down to the main trail and then discovered what I think is probably an easier approach. Try going uphill from the Ad & Gloria Schwindt Trail marker at N38 04.868 W122 35.043 where you can continue on to pick up my other cache further along the way.

After bushwhacking my way down hill and following the fence line that led to the trail marker I came across a somewhat disturbing scene. I found an old dog leash, tied securely to the barbwire fence, with the collar still attached. Luckily the plastic clips securing the collar was broken and it appears the dog was able to break free (I’m guessing).
