Cache is a regular sized ammo can hidden above high water mark on island in the Red Cedar River. Cache needs to be accessed from water via canoe or kayak. Difficulty is due to challenges in getting to cache via water route. Cache can be easily spotted from the water.
Our very first geocache hidden, so I hope this is a bit challenging for other cachers. The cache is hidden on an island in the Red Cedar River near Indian Lakes in Okemos. The island can be seen from a nearby road, but private property surrounds the island. The MSU canoe rental on Farm Lane would be great places to start if you are putting water craft into the water or need to rent a canoe. This summer the water level is quite low, so the canoe option, combined with many trees / debris downed from spring storms has made traversing upriver challenging. My daughter and I made the trip to campus easily, and last week we went upstream from the cache to Wonsch park easily, as there are no real obstructions on the way.
