Geocache Description:

Explore Vermont!

This is part of the Vermont 251 Plus 4 Geocaching Club, an attempt to bring caches to each and every town, city and gore in the state of Vermont!

Just exactly what is a gore? I searched a bit and came up with definitions like this one: "A gore (or sometimes a grant), is an unicorporated area of a county that is not part of any town and has limitied self-government (if any).
That sounds pretty good, but doesn't really fit 'Warren Gore'. Which I guess is part of the town of Warren.

Back in 1780 when the town of Warren was petitioning the state to become chartered, the town realized it did not have the required 23,000 acres. The petition was then combined to include the town of Warren and Warren Gore.
It seems having the correct amount of acreage was very important, while the fact that the two tracts of land were in separate counties and almost 100 miles apart didn't seem to matter!

Originally, this cache was placed close to Norton Pond, and even closer to some rail road tracks, oops! You can get a nice view of the pond and even put your boat in at N: 44deg 55.463, W: 71deg 52.242.

When I returned to find a new home for the cache, I thought I'd walk up the old logging roads on the opposite side of the road in the hopes of getting a view of the pond from above. Well, I went up and couldn't quite see through all the leaves. So I went up so more. Dang still nothing, but it is a nice hike and pretty soon the leaves will be very colorful and should be quite pretty. During the winter when the foliage is gone you should be able to see the pond from above. Let me know what you think! If nothing else, the hike will be good for you and it will give you a little time to enjoy "Warren Gore"!
You may begin your hike at:
N: 44 deg 56.233 W: 71 deg 51.382
