The creation of this now abandoned B&M Branch was certainly an exceptional feat. The amount of rock that needed to be removed in order to lay down the rails just amazes me. With the leftover from blasting they built rock walls to define both sides of the RR right of way, rather than the more commonly seen barbed wire fencing. Caves, ledges, crevasses and giant boulders abound (cache hiding heaven). This is a gas saver for when you do "B&M- Old Lakeport Branch", and perhaps add your own to this great old line.
Please respect the posted signs and do not travel beyond the rock wall boundaries.
