WIG (Wherigo): Pikes Peak Gold Rush

YOU MUST LOG the Wherigo Cartridge unlock page for this before you log this cache page!!!
Warning - the play area for the Wherigo is under construction! If you attempt this cache while the area is still being worked on, you do so at your own risk (just like normal caching) But realize also that workers may consider it trespassing. Other players have reported they were able to do it without a problem during non-working hours/days. Please use caution if you decide to play the wherigo during this time

See Wherigo Web Site for more information on Wherigo system.

To be able to find and log this cache, you will have to download and play the associated cartridge file on a Wherigo compatible GPS, such as the Garmin Colorado and log the Cartridge on the Wherigo site.

The Back-Story:
You have come to Colorado to Pan for Gold. In 1858 gold was being panned in Denver. In this story, you will pan for gold in Colorado Springs.

Location:
You will start out at the Cottonwood Creek Trail just East of Union and South of Woodland Hills Drive.

Time:
This Wherigo Cartridge will probably take you at least 15 minutes, and maybe 30 minutes. You will cover between 1/4 and 1/2 miles linear distance and there is a moderate incline for part of it.

Notes:
While you might be able to do this in the dark, it is inadvisable.
Please watch out for the left-behinds of careless dog walkers along the trail.
You do not have to go down to the stream.

When you are playing the cartridge, you should be able to view the current Task or Tasks on the Game's menu to find out what you need to do next.

During the story, you will pan for gold in a few places. It will take panning quite a few times to get enough gold to move on the the next part of the story. Once you have sold the gold, you will be given the way to complete the cartridge and find the physical cache to sign the paper log. Signing the log on 'Shark Attack' does not count as a find for this cache. The container is a bigger micro.

You will need to save the cartridge and upload your save file to Wherigo to be able to claim this cache.
Upload your Wherigo completion and log on the Wherigo cartridge page before you log this cache page! Online found logs for this cache without proper completion on site and upload of the save file to Wherigo are subject to removal without warning!
Would you log a virtual cache without sending the email?? Make sure you show the same respect by logging the Wherigo cartridge page before you log this cache page!!!

On Garmin Colorado, you need to upload from (drive:)\Wherigo\Saves\pikes_peak_gold_ru.gws

My first Wherigo (other than the playAnywhere sample). That was fun. I'll have to make some of my own for this area. I actually did this one twice because I didn't realize that I didn't actually "save" my progress after completed it, but that's ok, it just means that it was double the fun.

Found the cache, unlocked the cartridge, and gathered all the gold. We're were hoping to do more walking along the Cottonwood trail, but since this cache stayed local we'll have to make a return trip to gather some more caches. This was our 2nd WIG. TFTC

Area and cache in pretty great shape!
The construction should not hamper those seeker's now...
though there was some goings on in the area today.
(N.B! Information provided AS-IS and you proceed AT YOUR OWN RISK.)
Nice cool day and the traffic in the area was not too bad.
Even the hawk lent a more "realistic" feel to my adventure, my first Wherigo(tm) adventure that is...
~2:30PM XNSL plus Unlocked Cartridge. Thank You for the Wherigo adventure!
Thar be gold in them thar hills...

Interesting area, fun adventure, good hide. Went searching today with "Buzz Lightyear I" - I don't have the technology required to do one of these types of geocaches, but Buzz was nice enough to let me do the honors with his GPSr while he lead the horse around (not much grass for the horse, but there was a little straw available). TN-LN-SL. Thanks !

The construction is complete so it was time to seek the gold.
Complete cartridge and found the cache.
Thanks for the WIG Witz
