Höstena källor / Hostena wells

Höstena källor är vad som kallas en Artesisk källa, här får du besöka de två största som kallas "Kalle brunnar" där det kristall klara uppstigande grundvattnet får den ljusa kvicksanden att "koka".

En Artesisk källa är en källa där grundvattnet strömmar upp ur marken utan hjälp av pumpar, vattnet kan till och med spruta upp ur marken om trycket är tillräckligt högt.

I detta området ligger grundvattnet fångat i ett gruslager mellan berget och ett ogenomträngande lerlager. Ätradalens höga omgivande kullar med sitt fångade grundvatten gör att vattentrycket i dalen blir mycket högre än normalt. Gör man ett hål i det täta lerlagret i dalen så pressas grundvattet ut pga det höga vattentryck som det högre grundvattnet i de omgivande kullarna medför. Se Bild

Det finns flera exempel på Artesiska brunnar men som exempel kan nämnas:

Den uppgift du måste göra för att få logga denna är ett par temperatur mätningar och logga ett foto av dig/er vid källan.
Du skall ange följande saken när du loggar:
  • Hur var vädret vid besöket
  • Luft temperatur
  • Vatten temp
  • Ladda upp en bild av er vid källan

De data som ni rapporterar kommer visas som statistik när vi har fått tillräcklig data.

Hostena kallor are what is called an Artesian well, here you can visit the two largest where you can see the rising crystal clear water make the quicksand boil.

An Artesian well is a well where the groundwater comes pouring upp out of the ground with out the help of pumps, it the pressure is high enough the water can even squirt right out the ground.

In this area the groundwater is trapped in a layer of gravel between the bedrock and a impenetrable clay layer. The Atradalens surrounding hills with their trapped groundwater makes the water pressure at the bottom of the valley much higher than normal. If you make a hole in the clay layer the trapped water will pour out due to the high pressure that concurs the gravity and makes the water flow up instead of down. See picture

There are several examples of these types of wells but as examples we can mention.
Task
The task you have to do is report the following data as you make your report and load a photo showing you and the well.
  • The weather on location at the time of your visit
  • Air temperature
  • Water temperature
  • Upload a photo of you at the well
When data have been reported statistics will be shown that shows the changes.
