Iglesia de El Salvador
(Ayamonte)
Construida en un altozano, junto al antiguo castillo árabe (hoy
completamente destruido), se halla dentro el barrio mas antiguo de
la ciudad, conocido como "La Villa", y fue construida en el
siglo XV sobre una antigua mezquita árabe.
Se trata de una Iglesia de estilo mudejar compuesta de tres
naves, siendo la central mucho mas grande que las laterales,
separadas por arcos mudejares, la torre de campanario está situada
a la izquierda de la puerta central de la iglesia, consta de tres
cuerpos de los cuales el último es el campanario de estilo barroco
y construido tras el terremoto de Lisboa 1755 y levantada con
donativos de la familia ayamontina de los Galdámes.
En el interior se observa poca ornamentación en una nave muy
espaciosa y de claro estilo estilo mudéjar. Cuenta esta iglesia con
un retablo de estilo churriguesco de mitad del siglo
XVIII, representando a la
Inmaculada Concepción, y con
la imagen de El Salvador centrando el mismo, franqueado por los
cuatro evangelistas. Este retablo mayor poseía unas tablas
flamencas de Jan Sanders
Hemessenque actualmente forman parte de la
pinacoteca del Centro Cultural Casa Grande. La iglesia posee varias
capillas de las que destacan la de San José y la de la Oración en
el Huerto. Posee la iglesa una custodia del
siglo XVIIde estilo Barroco
Peruano.
Esta iglesia es monumento declarado "Bien de Interés
Cultural".
ENGLISH - Built on a hill, next
to the old Arab castle (today completely destroyed), the church is
inside the oldest district of the city, known like " The Villa",
and it was constructed in 15th century on one old Arab mosque. It
is a Church of Mudejar style composed of three bodies, being the
center one bigger than the laterals, separated by Mudejar arcs; the
bell tower is located to the left of the central door of the
church, consists of three bodies of which the last one is the bell
tower, of baroque style, built after the earthquake of Lisbon
in 1755, and risen with grants of the ayamontina family of the
Galdámes.
In the interior little
ornamentation in a very extensive body of clear Mudejar
style. A "churriguesco" (?) style altarpiece from the middle of
18th century , representing the Immaculate Conception, and
with the image of El Salvador (The Saviour) centering the same,
crossed by the four
gospellers.
This greater altarpiece has
tables flamencas of Jan Sanders Hemessenque, which at the moment
are located at the Casa Grande
Cultural Center. The church
has several chapels of which we emphasize the one of San
Jose and the one of
the Oración
en el Huerto. There's also
a "custodia" of the 17th century of Peruvian Baroque
style.
This church is declared monument
"property of Cultural Interest".
