Geocache Description:

Cache is on an island in a large lake. Terrain on the island is flat forest land.

Replaced Aug 28, 2022. Enjoy! Picnic Island is public and on the Minong Flowage. You will need a boat, canoe, or kayak (in the warmer months), or you can walk across the ice to reach the island. If you land on the island's south end, you will be at the campsite. There are two footpaths: one follows the west shoreline, and the other stays in the island's center. Both go to the north end of the island. The cache is off the side of the paths in easily traveled woodlands and is hidden traditionally. Watch for the 'demise of the water-skier,' and you will know you are very close. At the island's north end is an eagle's nest. Also, note the dense stands of white pines and imagine what it was like when stands of majestic trees like these covered Wisconsin and Minnesota.
