Earlier this year I had a cache along the big powerlines that run
from Quebec down through New Hampshire to southern New England. I
archived it for various reasons, but now--tah dah!--it has been
resurrected, in an entirely different location, and far from any
powerlines! Go figure.
The cache is a 4" x 6" lock-lock box hidden in Chase Sanctuary
off Jewett Road. There are several other caches in the immediate
area, to make this find worth your while.
The area is suitable for children and dogs, and on a Fall day is
beautiful with colorful leaves, large pines, hemlocks, oaks and
maples. In spring and summer, bring insect repellent.
Park on Jewett Rd, take the Yellow trail past the first junction
with a red trail that heads to the left, and continue on the yellow
trail to the next junction with a red trail that heads right.
Follow the red trail. I found the red aluminum blazes a little hard
to see, but children and dogs should have no trouble. In Fall and Winter you could follow
the GPSr arrow instead of the trail, but at times the terrain is
wet, and it would be best to stay on the trail.
If you found the first edition of P is for Powerlines, feel free
to search for and log this one, since it is a completely different
location. GPSr accuracy about 25 feet due to tree cover.
