Geocache Description:

This is one of three trailheads that access this off road trail. The cache is an easy grab for anyone using the Blacktop Sherman Pass Road. Easy parking and well marked turn out. If you are continuing on up the Jeep road it’s a very steep, narrow road that is prone to washouts. This is the most challenging way to go!

The Sherman Pass Jeep 4X4 trail is one of only two Jeep trails within this area (the other being the Monache Meadows area). It is about 7 miles long and a more aggressive trail with Jeep trail ratings from class II up to sections of class IV. An easy one day run, but why not enjoy a night camping along the way?

A great link to the Gear Grinders 4WD Club web site page on the trail. (visit link)

A sign at the trailhead list the two clubs that maintain this trail. Thank you to: The Ridgecrest Gear Grinders and The Bakersfield Trail Blazers.
