Our program will begin with the presentation with Q&A in the
morning, break for lunch on campus (pay on your own) then spend
time after lunch seeking demonstration caches we will hide prior to
this workshop. Geocachers, we would welcome your
assistance answering questions and providing hands on
help.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Looking for a new way to attract visitors to our parks?
Geocaching is an international eco-sport that uses GPS receivers to
find hidden “treasure”. It is an activity that involves people of
all ages and abilities including families. Dress for the weather,
following lunch, a hands-on experience geocaching will be
included.
Objectives:
Learn how to navigate the geocaching.com website to locate the
containers already hidden in your parks.
What to look for when purchasing a GPS receiver for
geocaching.
How to use a GPS receiver to navigate between locations.
Types of geocache hides and containers
How to host a geocaching event. Geocaching events are a great
way to draw visitors to your parks.
Establishing a geocaching policy for your parks. As part of
placing a geocache container, it is a requirement that permission
is obtained from a land manager or owner.
