This cache is short hike/bushwack east of our labor day cache.
There is a trail that leads to it however it is getting kind of
grown in.
The other day mochas cache (GC1FW5N) had received a visit from none
other than HockeyPuck. Not only was the log signed, but a harrowing
tale of unabashed bravery calm thinking, and not to mention soiled
under garments, was logged in on Mochas page. A faithful
reenactment was created sparing no expense from the tower crew. In
order to fully, and accurately commemorate the event.
After the Hokey Puck story at Mochas cache of 10/24/08 where can
you go?
This leaves us no option but to have a new cache Five Bears. Yes I
know there are bears in the woods, but not to worry. This cache is
equipped with a clean pair of shorts should you require them. A
roll of TP would be appropriate as well, but we could not get it in
the cache. Hey,,,,, just use a leaf (not the shiny ones).
I have seen a few bears in my life the most exciting were the two
grizzly cubs and yes mama grisly in Alaska after a week of
wilderness hiking. At Denali Park you have to sing a form that told
what to do and what not to do. Realizing that you were going to do
25% of what they told you not to do. The form asked what bad things
you were going to do so they would know why the grizzly had you for
lunch. We were not going to where bells nor were we going to
whistle and yes we had tuna fish and we didn’t put the food a
mile a way from the camp site. After doing all of it wrong we saw
no bears thankfully, but when we got back to the road after our
weeks adventure a car passed us. What was the first questioning?
Where are the bears? We said we had seen none. The car left and we
walked on a quarter mile or so and rounded the corner and saw two
cubs heading our direction, just what we had been told to avoid. As
we were wondering what to do Mrs. Grizzly popped up from the tundra
below. They were still a 200 hundred yards away but heading our
direction, this is when the park bus came around the next corner
and we flagged them down. We were happy to have metal and glass
surrounding us, while rest of the people on the bus were enjoying a
close a up view of the bears, less then a hundred feet away.
This cache’s container is a little, lets say unconventional.
Somewhere in the jumble is a brand new Tower Crew trade mark camo
micro cache ready for the FTFs hiding pleasure.
Its was kind of sad, but two winters took their toll on the bear
container. It has since been replaced with an ammo can.
If you have a bear story it would be great to hear it thanks The
Tower Crew.
