The cache container is a micro with a log book. You will need to bring your own pen. The cache is located along the Jay McLaren Memorial Trail in Merrimac, MA with a choice of two parking locations. PARK1, on Harriman Rd, is a longer hike of about a .8 mile. PARK2, on Church St, is a shorter hike of about 500 feet.
This is a kid-friendly cache placed in a location that is near and dear to them - on a rail trail. Beautiful scenery and nature surround the McLaren rail trail where a few other caches are hidden too.
This cache was placed to honor greystones for two reasons. The first reason is for 1,000 cache finds which is quite an accomplishment! The second reason is for their dedication on leading the SENHRR cache series. I have only been working for the greystones on the SENHRR for a few months and have enjoyed every minute of it!
This cache has a terrain rating of 2 due to the dirt incline near the parking area, PARK1, to reach the trail which is elevated above street level. This incline could be extra slippery in wet or winter weather. If you access the cache from the PARK2 location, the terrain rating is 1.5. Once on the trail, the hike into the cache location is flat terrain.
The honorees have already found this cache and they have left a $1 bill for the FTFAP (first to find after publication).
***** Congrats to Haverood for FTFAP honors! *****
