Quick micro up stream in the farm lands.

Chimacum Creek: East fork

Flowing through farm lands

Over the years the creek had been flowing with out check through farm lands. Recent years has seen cattle being fenced back from the creek. As seen in the image the fences are not that well maintained. Cattle tracks can be seen on the muddy creek banks. Many parts of the upper creek are choked by a non-native grass called Reed Canary grass. The middle school at Chimacum monitors the creek taking water samples including fecal coliform (levels of which are alarmingly high). They then share their data with the North West Salmon Coalition. Lower parts of the creek have been re planted with native trees in hopes of providing shade for the young salmon, steelhead and cuthroat. Your looking for a magnetic micro easily found.

It was where we thought it was but we had to look a little harder to spot it. It was the last find for us on a very fun day in Jefferson county. TFTH
