Pok Fu Lam Country Park that covers an area of 270 hectares was designated in 1979. It was established from land surrounding Pok Fu Lam Reservoir - the first reservoir built on the Island in 1863, which is the oldest water storage facility on Hong Kong Island. Surrounding the Peak, the park offers both pleasant gardens and some of the best views of Hong Kong.

Peak trail begins along Pok Fu Lam Family Walk, which starts at the Pok Fu Lam Management Centre. The PoK Fu Lam Family Walk goes around the middle slopes of the High West, and then back to Pok Fu Lam Reservoir Road. Much of the Family Walk is almost level, so allowing visitors to proceed in leisure amidst the greenery.
