Here is your chance to
prove to the world you aren't hooked on geocaching.
How?
DO NOT LOG THIS CACHE!!!!
Some people are just natural born geocachers. If you're the kind of
person that spent your childhood playing spy games, exploring the
woods behind your house turning over every rock to see what you
could find, or just hiding everyday objects in out of the way
places where nobody would know to look, chances are you were born
to cache. We'll admit it, we love adventure and exploring ... that
includes doing normally crazy things like hiking glaciers! Why? For
no other reason than, 'why not?' Besides, the glaciers were there
in WA and we don’t have many in SC!
Many cachers just naturally have personality
traits that lead to easily becoming hooked on caching. Maybe it's
the thrill of taking part in something that the average muggle
never has a clue about; maybe it's the chance to get out and
explore the world. Let's face it ... whatever the reason,
geocaching is addictive!
Are you hooked on geocaching? If so, this is
your chance to overcome your addiction. How?
Do not locate this cache, even though it's
among the easiest around (we even added a picture!) and right here
in front of you begging to be found! If you can drive
by, wear out your credit card inside the nearby store, and are able
to not search for this cache, feel free to share your success story
by logging a note below! We can think of several cachers who will
see this cache at the top of their nearest caches page, and their
first reaction will be to go out and find it. We know who you are.
You know who you are. We all know that it's easy to get hooked on
this sport. But it's not an addiction if you don't want to quit,
right? Well, what if you wanted to? We doubt you can do it! This is
just one of the many warning signs of a geocaching addiction.
Experts on the subject have identified a number of other warning
signs to be on the lookout for including the following:
- You are familiar with words like ‘sltnln’
and ‘ftf’
- You know zip codes for all your out-of-town relatives off the top
of your head
- You actually look forward to visiting your in-laws.
- You no longer talk to your friends or relatives about geocaching
... none of them will allow it.
- You find yourself having to explain to your significant other why
there is a never-ending shortage of Tupperware containers in the
kitchen.
- Your driveway is covered with spray-painted cache box
silhouettes.
- You begin making grocery purchases based on an item's usefulness
as a cache container.
If this describes you, chances are you have
an addiction to geocaching. This cache is here to help. In order to
prove that you have the willpower to resist locating a cache if you
want to, we put out this cache for the sole purpose of not being
logged!
If you're thinking about locating this
cache, chances are you fall into one of three
categories:
Locals: Unless you’re a premium
member and take advantage of the ignore feature, you'll have the
hardest time resisting this cache. It will appear on your nearest
caches list for as long as it remains unfound. Every time you check
to see if any new caches have been hidden nearby, it will be here
waiting, calling your name ...
Vacationers: This cache is right off
interstates 20 and 95 and on the way to the beach. It’s also one of
the more popular locations for completing that last minute shopping
list ... or if you need gas. Admit it, you plan both your pit stops
and your vacations around geocaching. Don't be ashamed, you're not
alone.
Travelers: You may have the least
challenge overcoming the temptation to log this cache, since there
are several good nearby caches you can grab instead. Still, though,
you may find it nearly impossible to resist stopping during your
drive through Florence ...
This is undoubtedly one of the lamest
cache-n-go micros you'll ever find ... we’re talking reach out,
grab, and log ... and no more than 30 seconds of your time! You
don't even have to enter the woods to find it. Matter of fact, you
can drive within 10 feet ... there’s just no excuse as to why you
couldn’t find this cache. There's also no interesting history
lesson, no trade items, no challenge, and chances are you probably
don't have to worry about being too stealthy. In fact, there's
nothing to be gained from finding this cache except another check
mark and a number added to your stats. So there's really no good
reason to locate this cache, except because it's there!
Oh ... if you find yourself too weak to
resist the temptation to find the cache, be sure to re-hide it as
well as, or better than, you found them to help others avoid the
same failing. It could disappear fast otherwise ... best wishes not
finding this cache!
