Explore coastal Garrapata State Park with this series of caches appropriate for cachers of all ages and abilities. Parking and trail access is via nineteen numbered turnouts along Highway 1. All are on the ocean side of the highway.

The second gate/turnout is a trailhead for numerous trails fanning out over the nearby bluffs. The particular trail which I chose meandered through the coastal scrub until it reached an overlook. The trail very near this overlook is littered with crushed abalone shell which gives it a glittery appearance.

The cache is hidden on the right side of the trail, just a short reach away--keep your feet on the sparkles.

The container is a clear plastic Lock & Lock container filled with small trade items, a log, and a pen.
