A Estação de Campanhã, inaugurada em 1877
nos terrenos da antiga Quinta do Pinheiro, é a entrada ferroviária
mais movimentada da cidade do Porto. Localizada na parte oriental
da cidade, constitui um excelente ponto de partida para conhecer a
Invicta.
Saindo da estação, os visitantes têm uma cidade pulsante de vida
para descobrir: desde as ruas animadas de gente, atarefada com as
multiplas actividades de comércio e restauração, até ao complexo
desportivo que constitui o recente Estádio do Dragão, covil do
Futebol Clube do Porto - um dos maiores clubes de futebol
portugueses.
Recheada de monumentos de grande valor e interesse patrimonial, a
freguesia de Campanhã, com quase 40 000 habitantes, recebe com
hospitalidade os olhares curiosos dos turistas.
Um dos locais de visita obrigatória é o Palácio do Freixo. Erguido
em 1742, com traço do célebre arquitecto Nicolau Nasoni, o edifício
constitui um dos mais belos exemplares do estilo barroco civil.
Adornado com belos jardins em estilo italiano, foi classificado
como monumento nacional em 1910.
Mesmo ali ao pé, vale a pena uma paragem pelo Museu Nacional da
Imprensa, Jornais e Artes Gráficas. Neste espaço original, com
máquinas em movimento, os visitantes aprendem sobre todo o processo
de impressão e podem fazer sair o seu próprio trabalho no prelo. É
aqui que se realiza, anualmente, um dos principais festivais de
cartoon do mundo - o PortoCartoon-World Festival.
Quem gosta de arte sacra, deve deslocar-se à Igreja de Campanhã.
Aí, pode admirar-se uma das mais belas imagens da Virgem em toda a
diocese, esculpida em pedra de ançã. Erguida no século XVIII, a
Igreja Matriz de Campanhã foi saqueada durante o período das
invasões francesas e danificada durante o cerco do Porto (1832-33).
No exterior, destaca-se o revestimento a azulejo azul e branco, as
cores da cidade.
The Station of Campanhã,

Located on the eastern point of the city it is an excellent
starting point for a visit to the Invicta.
As you leave the station you have a city filled with life to
discover: From the streets with lively people busy in their shops
and restaurants to the sports complex comprising the recent Estádio
do Dragão (Dragon Stadium), the den of Futebol Clube do Porto - one
of the biggest Portuguese football clubs.
Replenished with monuments of great value and historical interest,
the parish of Campanhã, with nearly 40 000 inhabitants, is a nice,
friendly place for curious tourists.
One of the places that you can?t go without visiting is the Palácio
do Freixo. Built in 1742, with the design of the famous architect
Nicolau Nasoni, this building is one of the most beautiful examples
of the baroque style adorned by magnificent gardens in Italian
style. It was classified as national monument in 1910.
Just next to it is worthwhile stopping to visit the Museu Nacional
da Imprensa, Jornais e Artes Gráficas (Press and Graphic Arts
Museum). In this original space with machines operating, the
visitors can learn all about the printing process and their own
work can come out of the printing press. Here, one of the main
cartoon festivals in the world is held annually - the
PortoCartoon-World Festival.
For those who appreciate religious art then you must visit the
Igreja de Campanhã. Here you can admire one of the most beautiful
images of the Virgin, sculpted in stone. Built in the 18th century,
the Igreja Matriz of Campanhã was pillaged during the French
invasions and suffered damages during the Oporto siege (1832-33).
Outside the white and blue, colours of the city, azulejo-covered
walls stand out.
