Die Cova de Sant Marti ist eine Höhlenkirche aus den Anfängen der Christenheit auf Mallorca. Sie besteht aus einer Kalksteinhöhle die etwa 20 m tief in den Kalkfelsen unterhalb des Puig de Alcudia geschlagen wurde. Bereits im 2. Jahrhundert versteckten sich hier Christen vor den römischen Verfolgern. Aber die Kalksteinhöhle war nicht nur Versteck für die Christen sondern auch Tempel für die Anbetung Jesus Christus. Aus dem 13. Jahrhundert existieren noch 2 Altäre. Über den Altären kann man noch uralte Malereien mit den kirchlichen Darstellungen des Heiligen Georgs, wie er einen Drachen tötet und die Darstellung des heiligen Martin, der seinen Mantel teilt. Der Eintritt zur Höhle ist kostenlos. Ein absolutes Highlight für alle die sich für die Geschichte Mallorcas interessieren und zum geocachen unterwegs sind.. :-)
Update: Die Kirche ist derzeit wegen Einsturzgefahr gesperrt, eingezäunt, aber von aussen zu sehen. An hohen Feiertagen wird Sie für Zeremonien geöffnet.
The Cova de Sant Marti is a cave church from the beginnings of the Christendom on Majorca. She exists of a limestone cave about 20 m deep in the lime rock below the Puig de Alcudia was hit. Here already in the 2nd century Christians hid from the Roman pursuers. But the limestone cave was not only a hiding place for the Christians but also temples for the adoration Jesus Christ. From the 13th century there exist another 2 altars. About the altars one is able to do still ancient paintings with the ecclesiastical representations of the holy Georgs as he kills a dragon and the representation of holy Martin who divides his coat. The entry to the cave is free. An absolute highlight for all are interested for the history of Majorca and for all Geocachers.
Update: The church is currently closed due to the danger of collapse, fenced, but seeing from the outside. On major holidays, you will open for ceremonies.
Cova de Sant Marti es una iglesia de cuevas de los principios de la cristiandad en la Mallorca. Ella existe de una cueva de piedra caliza a aproximadamente 20 m de profundidad en la roca de cal debajo de Puig de Alcudia era dado golpes. Aquí ya en el siglo 2 cristianos se escondían de los perseguidores romanos. Pero la cueva de piedra caliza era no sólo el escondite para los cristianos sino también los templos para el Anbetung Jesús Cristo. Del siglo 13 existen todavía 2 altares. Sobre los altares uno sabe todavía pinturas muy viejas con las representaciones eclesiásticas del santo de Jorge como él mata a un dragón y la representación de Martin santo que parte su abrigo. La entrada a la cueva es gratuita. Un punto fuerte absoluto interesan por todos sí para la historia de la Mallorca.
Actualización: La iglesia está cerrada debido al peligro de colapso, vallado, pero al ver desde el exterior. En los días festivos, se abrirá para las ceremonias.
