A medium sized Ammo Can
I-20 and Hwy 15. Go toward Sumter about 1.8 miles. Turn onto
Caughman, go to Gooding Place, and follow you GPS. Day time caching
only. Cache should be wheel chair accessible as it is in the front
yard just off the roadway.
There is an OPEN HOUSE each fall (Sept) for those that would
like to see more of Poncho
Poncho is Watching You
This cache is placed on private property with the permission of the
property owner and Emmitt Acres. Many of the homeowners in this
quiet area are members of the same family. If you see the homeowner
or the ranch owners while caching, feel free to speak to them about
the animals.
When you find this cache, you will see something that you would not
expect to see in SC.
Be aware that Poncho may spit a mist at you if you get too
close.
LLAMAS
Life span: about 15 - 25 years
Height: 40 - 45" at the shoulder, 5'5" - 6’ at the
head.
Weight: avg. range - 280 to 450 lbs.
Birth: A single baby "cria" is normally delivered; Twins are
rare.
Alpacas
Alpacas have soft padded feet, making them gentle on their
pastures, and they have no top teeth in the front.
The average height of an alpaca is 36" at the withers, and they
weigh from 100 to 175 pounds.
Alpacas are small and gentle.
Alpacas have a life span of 15 to 20 years.
A baby alpaca, called a cria, usually weighs between 15 and 20
pounds.
Alpaca fiber comes in 22 colors that are recognized by the textile
industry, and there are many blends in addition to that. Alpacas
are shorn for their wonderful fleece each year, which will produce
5 to 10 pounds of soft, warm fiber .
