Geocache Description:

Heading South

Hobart's harbour, the beginning of so many antarctic adventures, is about as good a harbour as you can get-sheltered, deep and able to take a fleet of ships with room to spare. Heading South, a sculpture by Stephen Walker, commemorates the port's role in Antartic exploration by recognising the English explorer James Clark (1800-1862), who sailed from Hobart in 1840 to discover Antarctica's Victoria Land and the sea and ice shelf that carry his name.

Bring your own pen or pencil as cache does not contain one.

BEWARE - There is a GCA or other cache at the exact same co-ords. If the cache is at all visable, it's the wrong one. Recent logs who are not listed in the cache have been deleted as they have obviously signed the wrong one.

On review of the mystery cache at the same location, most logs thought they were finding heading south, on review of the heading south cache, there were only 3 entries. 9 logs were deleted.

I like numbers as much as the next person, but I want my numbers to account for the caches I have found, not the ones I nearly found. I am not responsible for the placement of rouge caches, none of us are, I log my hides and wait for approval like the rest of us, if a cache had been near by mine would have been rejected. If you logged this rouge cache please contact it's hider to find out where you can record your find. As of 14/04/09 at 9pm there were only 3 logged finders - IF - Dippy - Isaack. Anyone else listed after 23/2 and before 14/9 has not logged the right cache.
