Från cachen har man bra utsikt över Kärra. Kärra och Hisingen har varit bebott sedan stenålder och inte långt ifrån cachen finns et röse från järnåldern. Namnen Kärra och Gerreback härstammar från så tidigt som järnåldern. Området har hört till både Danmark, Norge och Sverige och under stridigheterna mellan de tre länderna fick befolkningen utstå mycket lidande. Sedan freden i Roskilde 1658 tillhör området Sverige.

Kärra var länge ett bondesamhälle men på 60-talet byggdes de första radhusen och under 70-talet genofördes stora utbyggnader med bland annat Kärra centrum som invigdes 1978.

Från platsen ser man även till det gamla färjeläget Nyebro som var den närmaste förbindelsen över älven. Färjan lades ner 1978 när Angeredsbron stod klar.
