A bit of history in the south valley.

This cache is located near the entry to two mine shafts. DO NOT GO INTO THE MINES!!! They contain hazards such as snakes, coyotes, javalinas and boogymen. They may also collapse at any time without written notice.

These mines were the source of great things at one time. The upper shaft is where they extracted nearly a dozen milligrams of pure unobtainium. This stuff is commonly used in the production of anti-gravity machines and alchemy type lead to gold converters.

The lower shaft produced copious quantities of leaverite. This stuff is so secret I would have to kill you if I told you what it was for. I will spare you the tragedy. Just look around and appreciate the significance and coolness of the place.

To get to the cache site just park at N33 18.291 W112 05.714. Follow the trail until it goes down into the wash. At N33 18.694 W112 06.094 follow the wash NE to the start of the trail at N33 18.848 W112 06.151. From there just follow the trail to the mines.

DO NOT GO INTO THE MINES!!!

The cache is a decon container under rocks outside the upper shaft. Peer inside and see the timbers holding up the roof. From the cache site you can see a trail about 20 yards to the northwest that if followed will lead you all the way up to the National Trail.

There are a couple of other caches in the area to grab while here. The Mysterious Ruins cache nearby is where the mining camp was headquartered. It is also the start of the climb to the Ruins Trail cache.
