Swasey Parkway was a gift to the Town from Ambrose Swasey in November 1931. The Parkway follows the Squamscott River and is lined with trees and park benches for all to enjoy. It is the site of a Summer Concert Series and Farmers Market. Rowing teams from the local academy practice on the narrow flat river area.
The trustees of the Swasey Parkway of the Town of Exeter are pleased to cooperate and extend to the public the use of these facilities. In return, the Trustees expect the property to be respected and protected from any damages.
Swasey Parkway is located at the bottom of the downtown area off Water Street in Exeter. Turn right just after the academy boat house.
In the late winter months a new town springs up on the river populated by hardy local fishermen seeking river smelts.
In the other months there are a host of activities in the parkway. It is a popular walking path at all times of the year with beautiful views of historic Exeter. Take note of the large Birch tree that is the center piece of the park. (Cache is not there)
Normally there is ample Parking along the parkway. If the Parkway has been closed off for a special event, Old Home Days, Farmers Market etc., there is plenty of parking nearby. The parkway is accessible from Dawn to 10 PM (22:00). The Cache is off the beaten path as much as it can be for this location. Depending on the time of day, stealth may be required. Please, Please, return as found.
