Alexander Graham Bell may be most famously known for his
invention of the telephone. However his name doesn't "ring a bell"
for everybody. That distinction goes to Ivan Petrovich Pavlov.
Pavlov is know for his physiology studies with dogs and other
animals. He noticed that dogs salivate even before they begin to
consume their food. He studied the "conditioned reflex" where the
animals learned to react to certain conditions. In his most popular
study, he conditioned dogs to think they would be fed after a bell
was rung. Does this cache ring a bell?
