The rangers know about the cache. The The Indian Visitors Center is open from 8 am till 5 pm. Only enter the area when the gates are open. There are ancient irrigation systems and artifacts on the alluvial fan, watch where you walk.

Based on the logs posted to this cache, it appears that some of the Rangers do not know about the cache. Accordingly, I am disabling the listing to allow the cache owner to inquire of the reason why cachers are being detained looking for this cache. Upon submittal of proof of permission, and assuming the cache then meets all current Guidelines, I will be happy to re-enable this listing.

Thank you for your understanding and for your contributions to Geocaching.

Playing around Palm Springs with Flaglady, enjoying the local caches. This wasn't a fun adventure for us. We read the cache description before we started the hunt and did our best to stay at the top of the slope. It didn't take more than 3 or 4 minutes before we were "apprehended" and "detained" by the tribal police/ranger. He was very upset that we were looking for something hidden in this area. We mentioned that the rangers know about the cache and he was on the radio to his supervisor, etc. trying to verify that information. He accused me of hiding something in the car and I explained that I had just set my GPS on the seat. We didn't find the cache and he asked us to have the owner remove the cache. Too much drama for us today.
