Geocache Description:

The Alley that's gone now for over 20 years was suggested by Rich from Team Double A was called Tulip Bowling Alley in Floral park.
Now a big house in it's place. Here is some info Rich was kind enough to provide. (Thanks Rich).

Three Rescued From Long Island Explosion

Published: January 26, 1987

Wreckage of the Tulip Bowling Alley in Floral Park after structure was destroyed in a series of explosions and fire. Firefighters responding to a report of an odor of natural gas arrived shortly before an explosion blew out front of building. They were able to rescue three residents in an apartment in the rear before other explosions occurred.

Fourteen firefighters were injured in the blasts.

Rich also told me that he was in the Franklin Square fire dept that had responded to the call and that it was known as Super Blow Sunday!
Quite interesting!

This nano cache is located across the street from where the Alley used to be. (It was on the NW corner). I suggest doing this in the early morning or very late at night as it's somewhat a residential area and a busy street. Stealth is a must! You will need a paper clip/safety pin to get the log out of this cache. When you find it, it's best to take back to your car to sign in and then go back and replace it as you've found it. BYOP! Happy Hunting!
