Geocache Description:

The cache is located by the side of a quiet road, close to the popular Ruka downhill ski slopes in Kuusamo, northern Finland.

Ruka's first all-year micro cache? While searching for the cache you'll need to watch out for skiers! In the winter the busy cross country tracks are close by so you'll need to use a bit of stealth. In the summer months you may find it a bit tricky for other reasons.

Please be very careful when retrieving and replacing the cache. One wrong move and it'll be gone!

You're looking for a film canister. The cache only contained a log book and small pencil when placed.

From this cache you have a good view of the Rukatunturi, which is a 490 metre high fell about 50km south of the Arctic Circle. It is a popular tourist centre with 29 ski slopes and 20 ski-lifts. There are also over 500km of cross country ski tracks and 600km of dedicated skidoo routes in the area. You can generally expect a decent snow cover from early December to May, and it can accumulate up to 100cm deep towards the end of the season. In the summer there are plenty of hiking routes and national parks to explore.
