Der Hohwald, ein großes Waldgebiet zwischen Neukirch/Lausitz, Steinigtwolmsdorf, Langburkersdorf, Neustadt/Sachsen, Berthelsdorf, Ottendorf und Putzkau besitzt eine jahrhundertealte Bergbautradition. Zahlreiche Sagen und Geschichten ranken sich vor allem um das sagenhafte Gold.
Dabei spielt der 587 m hohe Valtenberg meist eine besondere Rolle.
Für alle, die neben Geocaches auch mal handfestere Schätze suchen möchten besteht die Möglichkeit, hier selber echtes Gold zu waschen!
