Freeway Views Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

wallyhunt: Well folks,
I really, really, really wanted to keep this cache alive, and by way of maintenance, I even changed co-ordinates, but that was only meant to be a temporary measure till the permanent site could again be accessed. The original site will not again be available for a cache, and the eventual intended new site will not be publicly accessible for some months, or even a couple of years, we still don't know yet. A big thanks to the 366 people who found the cache, and those who tried. I just couldn't find a way to end up making it work right on the edge of the work site, and I suspect it would have been regularly muggled by the workers. It breaks my heart, but, I guess this one has to go, but, with the new foot bridge on the way, it will be back somehow.

Geocache Description:

Freeway Views This is a second cache for wallyhunt. This is a foot bridge over the Westgate Freeway,/nl the main Western access road to the city of Melbourne, and the Westgate Bridge. This bridge gives pedestrian access to both sides of Spotswood. This suburb was effectively cut in half with the building of the Westgate Freeway, and ultimately, the Westgate Bridge, which was opened in 1978. On several occasions, I have gone to this bridge to watch the riders in the Melbourne – Warrnambool Road Race (bicycle race) pass along this freeway, on their way to Warrnambool, via Geelong and Colac. I could describe this as having scenic views, but really, only a Real Estate Agent would do that. But the view you do get from here is the City skyline to the East, and a View out to the West. The cache is a 200ml Sistema container, and is well hidden. Please make sure you replace it exactly as you found it, or it might get muggled. Muggles should not be a problem here, but if you think they might be, go there with a camera round your neck, and go to the apex of the bridge, and “take some photos”. Muggles don't usually hang round here, except to watch the bike race go by, or to watch city and Yarra River fireworks displays. If you are only interested in the cache, and not the views, approach GZ from the South. Initial contents: Logsheet, 2 pencils, Pencil Sharpener
