Vroeger
Een cache loggen recht voor
de deur van een van de drukste treinstations van Nederland? Yes,
you can! De serie 'Sporen van vroeger' heeft een cache op het
stationsplein van Amsterdam en een bij Haarlem CS. Wie beide caches
heeft gelogd kan op zoek gaan naar de bonus cache, ruwweg
halverwege de beide stations.
Hou je van moeilijke puzzels
of artistiek verstopte containers dan is dit niet de cache voor
jou. Deze cache is voor mensen die het een kick vinden om ongezien
te loggen terwijl er tegelijkertijd honderden muggles langslopen.
Om het een beetje interessanter te maken is er een bonuscache in de
buurt van Halfweg - inderdaad ja, de locatie van de tussenstop van
de originele lijn Amsterdam - Haarlem.
Een
stukje historie
De spoorlijn
Amsterdam – Haarlem was de eerste Nederlandse spoorlijn. De
Hollandsche IJzeren Spoorweg-Maatschappij (HIJSM) legde de lijn aan
en exploiteerde de treindienst. De lijn werd geopend op 20
september 1839. De stoomlocomotief ‘De Arend’ reed die
dag in 25 minuten van Amsterdam naar Haarlem en zou dit vele jaren
enkele malen per dag blijven doen. Een en ander leidde tot een
storm van protest. Het ging veel te snel, maakte te veel lawaai en
was uiterst onveilig. Toch ontdekte de trekschuit al snel dat de
trein een geduchte concurrent bleek te zijn en binnen de kortste
keren moest de strijd worden opgegeven.
De spoorlijn werd
evenwijdig aan de bestaande Haarlemmertrekvaart aangelegd en werd
daarmee een directe concurrent van de bestaande trekschuit. In 1842
werd de spoorlijn verlengd richting Leiden.
Tot 1865 was het
spoor breedspoor, met een spoorwijdte van 1945 mm. Vanaf dat jaar
werd het 'normaal'spoor (1435 mm). In 1927 werd de stoomtrein
vervangen door een elektrische trein. Het traject is nog steeds een
van de drukst gebruikte van Nederland.
Oorspronkelijk
liep het traject van Amsterdam Sloten tot aan de Amsterdamse Poort
in Haarlem. In 1842 werd de lijn verlengd tot het huidige Haarlem
CS. Aan de andere zijde werd pas in 1889 het huidige Amsterdam CS
bereikt.
Halfweg had tot
1928 een treinstation en daarna - nadat de elektrische trein zijn
intrede had gedaan -
niet meer. De lijn was toen al enige jaren naar het noorden, verder
weg van het centrum van Halfweg, verplaatst.
De

Sporen van vroeger #2 (Haarlem) vind je telkens twee getallen die je nodig
hebt om de bonuscache
Sporen van vroeger #3 (Halfweg) te kunnen vinden.
De cache oppakken vereist
stealth skills. Plaats de cache alsjeblieft op exact dezelfde
manier terug. Vergeet niet een pen mee te nemen! Kijk ook naar de
spoilerfoto. Verberg de cache NIET op een andere plaats en zeker
niet aan de kant van de tramrails want dat is gevaarlijk! Als
terugplaatsen op de goede plaats niet mogelijk is doe dat dan op
een andere plaats en stuur me een email.
Sporen van
Vroeger ('Tracks from the
past')
Log a cache right in front of one of
the busiest train stations in Holland? Yes, you can! the series
'Sporen van vroeger' (Tracks from the past) has a cache in the
station square in Amsterdam and one at the Haarlem central station.
When you have logged them both, you can go and look for the bonus
cache, somewhere in the middle between the two stations.
If you are fond of difficult puzzles,
or caches that have been artistically hidden, this is not a cache
for you. This is a cache for people that kick on logging a cache
unseen while surrounded by hundreds of muggles. To make things a
bit more interesting, there is a bonus cache in the vicinity of
Halfweg - indeed: the location of the stop of the original line
Amsterdam - Haarlem.
A bit of
History
The railroad Amsterdam –
Haarlem was the first Dutch railroad. The Hollandsche IJzeren
Spoorweg-Maatschappij (HIJSM) was responsible for building and
operating the line. It was opened on 20 September 1839. The steam
locomotive 'De Arend' (The Eagle) did the stretch in 25 minutes
that day - and it would remain to do so several times a day for
many years. It caused quite an uproar! It was clearly much too
fast, made too much noise and it was extremely unsafe. Still, the
track boat quickly discovered that the train proved to be very
fierce competition and was discontinued shortly after.
The tracks were constructed parallel
to the canal the track boat was using and so it was a direct
competitor. In 1842 the railroad reached the town of
Leiden.
Until 1865 the tracks were 1945 mm.
From that year on, they were 1435 mm. In 1927 the steam engine was
replaced by an electrical train. The stretch is still one of the
busiest in Holland.
The original route started in
Amsterdam Sloten and ended at the Amsterdamse Poort in Haarlem. In
1852 the present Haarlem central station was reached. At the other
side the Amsterdam central station was only reached in
1889.
The town of Halfweg had a train
station until 1928. The new electrical train marked the end of the
Halfweg station. By that time, the railroad had been moved north,
further away from the town centre.

Sporen van vroeger #3 (Halfweg).
Logging the cache will require stealth
skills! Please put back the cache exactly as you have found it.

NOT hide this cache near the rails of the tram as this is
potentially dangerous! If for any reason it is not possible to
replace the cache in the right spot, just put it somewhere else and
