This cache has been archived.

crabhunter: There is a new bridge being built between Brilliant, Ohio and West Virginia Route 2. It will be crossing the Ohio River right at the location where this cache was. Geocache Description:

The Battle of Midway was the turning point of the Pacific war during WW II. Your mission is to decide which parking area to start out from. The cache is just about "Midway" between the two suggested parking areas.

The Northern parking spot is at 40 15.774, 080 36.971 and the Southern parking is at 40 14.352, 080 39.048. It is your choice which area you choose to park. This trail is a very nicely maintained, level paved old railbed that is very good for bicycling. The cache is downstream from the huge tree that is reported to be the largest American Elm East of the Mississippi River. It was a seedling back in 1630 and is over 92 feet tall. It is over 20' in circumference and is growing out of two big sandstone rocks at it's base. Too bad it looks like is is dead after all those years.

You will be looking for a .30 cal. ammo can. Please do not try to get to this cache from along Route 2 as there is no safe access. The cache is tethered with a chain to an old dead tree and the area is very overgrown with weeds.
