First our Nuvi wanted to take us to the airport parking ... were we supposed to trek across the runway and be on the evening news??? We left town for some drive-bys and returned to have the GPS bring us to the other wrong entrance ... or is this the right entrance ... It is the right trail to the challenging hike into a landscape that looks like it may have been carved by aliens .. LOL
There are 3 tiny frogs in this small unique container at the base of a smaller pine tree next to a larger pine tree a little way in from the beginning of the trail to Otter-pop's caches. This Official Entrance has a sign about those pretty butterflies. Just past the path to the cache is the Kiosk with lots of butterfly news.
Be sure not to block the gate. Parking is by the power unit fence to the side of the gates at the end of this end of Chenell Dr.
All those little white signs mark protected areas where only the wildlife can free range. We mustn't cross beyond them. In the distance you can see the big fence which is the back of the airport property. We saw a deer going towards it. The fence is a smart idea to protect both the planes and wildlife
